We manufacture custom CNC-machined stainless steel threaded couplings built entirely to your drawing — including non-standard thread forms, custom pitches, left-hand and multi-start threads that off-the-shelf parts simply cannot match. Available in 304/304L, 316/316L, 17-4 PH and duplex stainless steel, with ring-/plug-gauge inspection and material mill certs on every batch. Prototypes from 1 piece to repeat production runs.

Product overview

A threaded coupling joins two male-throated parts, two pipes/tubes, or a component to a manifold, valve, sensor or housing. When standard catalog parts do not fit — wrong pitch, unusual thread profile, mixed ends, a non-standard bore, or a dimension locked to your assembly — a custom CNC-machined stainless steel threaded coupling is usually faster, cheaper and more reliable than forcing a standard fitting to work.

We are a non-standard, make-to-print machining shop. Every coupling is produced from your drawing, sample or 3D model rather than pulled from stock, so the thread geometry, wall section, hex/knurl flats, length, bore and step transitions are all defined by you. Full customization: thread form, pitch and geometry

This is where standard suppliers stop and where we do most of our work.

1. Custom thread form /thread profile  Beyond standard V-threads, we single-point turn or thread-mill profiles to your exact included angle and root/crest geometry:

  • Unified / ISO metric: UNC, UNF, UNEF, UN, M coarse & fine (60°)
  • Pipe threads: NPT, NPTF (dryseal), NPSM, BSPP/G (parallel), BSPT/R/Rc (taper), metric parallel/taper pipe
  • Power & motion threads: ACME (29°), Stub ACME, ISO trapezoidal Tr (30°), buttress, modified/square profiles
  • Fully special profiles: modified angle, custom root radius, rounded/flat crest, sealing radii, customer-owned thread standards
  • Right-hand or left-hand, single-start or multi-start (2/3/4-start) for faster lead travel

2. Custom pitch  We are not limited to standard TPI/ pitch tables. Specify an exact pitch in mm or threads-per-inch, a fine pitch for thin-wall engagement, a coarse pitch for quick assembly, or matched multi-start leads. We hold pitch consistency along the full engagement length and verify it against your mating part.

3. End configuration & body, all per drawing

  • Equal (straight) coupling, reducing coupling, male–male, female–female, male–female adapter, half/full coupling, bulkhead, extension and spacer types
  • Internal × internal, external × external, or mixed internal/external ends
  • Different thread standards on each end (e.g. one end NPT, one end metric)
  • Hex flats, wrench flats, knurling, spanner holes, grooves, O-ring seats, seal steps, spot faces and chamfers
  • Through-bore, stepped bore or blind bore; custom overall length and wall thickness

If you have a mating component, send it (or its thread data) and we will machine the coupling to engage it with the correct fit class — no galling, no slack, no forced make-up.

Materials: stainless steel for corrosion and strength

We machine couplings across the common stainless grades, selected for the environment the part lives in:

Other stainless grades and even non-stainless materials can be quoted on request. Raw material is full-traceability bar from approved mills; EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates and PMI (positive material identification) reports are available so the grade on the certificate is the grade in the part.

CNC machining capability and tolerances

  • CNC turning, turn-mill (live tooling) and multi-axis machining; internal and external threads by single-point turning, thread milling or precision tapping, chosen to suit batch size and profile
  • General tolerances to ISO 2768-m, with tight features held to ±0.01 mm [confirm to your drawing]
  • Thread fit classes such as 2A/2B and 6g/6H, NPT gauge engagement (L1), and customer-specified torque/make-up requirements
  • Diameters and lengths across the small-to-medium precision range; send your size envelope for a feasibility check
  • Deburring, controlled chamfers and clean thread run-outs as standard

Surface treatment and finish

  • As-machined, Ra 1.6 / Ra 3.2 typical; polishing/turning to Ra 0.8 available for sealing or sanitary faces
  • Passivation (removal of free iron) and electropolishing for maximum corrosion resistance
  • Bead blasting / satin finish, mirror or brush polishing
  • Any finish marked on your drawing is followed; unmarked surfaces use our standard machining finish

Quality control and documentation

Every custom coupling is checked against the drawing before shipment, not sampled by luck:

  • Go / no-go thread plug gauges (internal) and ring gauges (external) for fit and engagement
  • L1 gauging for tapered pipe threads; lead/pitch checks for special and multi-start threads
  • CMM / caliper / micrometer dimensional report on critical diameters, length and concentricity
  • Surface roughness check where specified
  • Material mill cert (EN 10204 3.1), PMI, dimensional inspection report, and salt-spray report where applicable
  • First-article inspection (FAI) and PPAP-style documentation available for qualified production orders

FAQ

Q1. Can you machine a thread form that is not in any standard? Yes. Send the thread profile drawing (included angle, pitch, crest/root dimensions, depth and tolerance) or a mating sample. We machine custom and modified profiles by single-point turning/thread milling and verify against your fit requirement.

Q2. Can you make a non-standard / custom pitch? Yes. Pitch is defined by your drawing in mm or TPI, including fine, coarse and multi-start leads; we are not restricted to standard pitch tables.

Q3. Which stainless steel do you recommend? 304/304L for general use; 316/316L for moisture, chemical, marine or chloride exposure; 17-4 PH where higher strength is needed; duplex for aggressive service. Tell us the working environment and we will suggest a grade.

Q4. What is your minimum order quantity? We accept prototypes and small lots from 1 piece, with the same drawing-based process used for larger production runs.

Q5. How do you guarantee the threads will fit our mating part? We inspect internal threads with plug gauges and external threads with ring gauges (L1 for taper threads), and we can machine to your mating component’s fit class. Sharing the mating thread data at quote stage removes fit risk.

Q6. What documents can you supply? EN 10204 3.1 material mill certs, PMI reports, dimensional/inspection reports, roughness and salt-spray reports, and first-article inspection on request.

Q7. Do you only make couplings, or other custom machined parts too? Couplings are one of our core custom parts; we also machine other non-standard stainless steel turned/milled components to drawing — adapters, nipples, spacers, bushings, fittings, housings and assemblies.

Q8. What file formats do you accept for quoting? STEP, IGES, DWG, DXF and PDF; a clear sketch with dimensions and thread call-out is enough for an initial estimate.
